I did it! I emailed Barbara Walters, Rosie O'Donnell, Joy Bahar, & Elisabeth from The View! And they DO read their email, and they DO respond! Maybe even on the show!! I also emailed Jimmy Kimmel, so we'll see what happens! Tune into The View just in case they say something

Nancy, I remember a few years ago, someone here at work took up a collection of those little soaps and shampoos from hotels that we all collect I still have a small supply of those at home. Do you think you could use those for the boxes? If so, I'll send you a care package.

Hy, that's a fabulous idea! No where does it state the "sizes" of said shampoo and extras. So, I say yes to this as well! They will be great additions to the Shoeboxes that I'm making! Send them my way hun! And as always, thank you for all the support! Nancy

I just saw this on Anysoldier.com under their list of recommended things to ship: ------------ Beanie Babies! No kidding! A really good excuse to get rid of those things (don't buy new ones, collect them from your house and ask your friends)!! Send some in every package to ALL units as they are really easy for the Soldiers to carry with them and give to the local kids who love them. These are better then small plastic toys which will break easily and are not as easy to carry in a pack. There is NO more effective ambassador for our country than a Soldier helping the local folks. This is done far more often then the press shows, and quite probably the most important thing a Soldier will ever do. This picture is from CWO3 Edward Jimenez's unit in Afghanistan. You folks sent the toys this Marine is handing to the child. (To see the pic, go to anysoldier.com/WhatToSend.cfm ) ---------- I think it's really good for creating a positive experience for our soldiers over there. Most of what they're experiencing is beyond bad, but if they could make a kid smile, it might be what they need to make it through.

I should be able to send a box off to you on Friday, and you'll get it middle of next week.

Nancy, the box will be a little delayed. People are still bringing in items. I'm hoping to get a box off to you by next Tuesday, which means you will get it by Friday.

Are you serious? I really don't think we need any more supplies. The deadline is February 25th, that's when I'm sending the boxes to the VFW! With Media coverage and all! I suggested February 21st as a time limit to send boxes, due to the mail system being as it is. I have an idea! Ok, your office has been SO supportive for the supplies, go for the CD sells now! Explain to them the campaign, and that music is, in my opinion, the BEST gift ever, and the Soldiers will really really love that CD! In doing so, put up a CD donation box. The Donation, or Charity Box will end on February 14th!!!!!......Dino will rush order the CD's to me, and in that way, I will add them to all my shoeboxes, and supplies that I already have ready to go! As of right now, I have enough supplies to fill 700 Shoeboxes! So, all you have to do then is make a Donation, and I can put a special note in every box that I fill from your office! Sound like a plan that is possible? Run with it then! Thanks again for all the support, and for all that you've done and continue to do HY!...Your amazing!.....Nancy

Yayyy!!! Found it! Thanks, dear "other Nancy". I wrote up an info sheet to go to campus organizations and to post on bulletin boards at the university. I sent it to Nancy so she could check and make sure all the facts were right. She suggested that I post it here, so if anyone else would like to use it, they can. Here it is: Care Packages for Our Troops
Let them know we care!
Have you thought about sending a care package to our soldiers and sailors deployed in the Middle East, but didn’t know what to send or where to send it?
Do you enjoy music, and recognize that it can lift spirits and sustain people in times of trouble?
If you answer yes to either of those questions, here’s a good way to send a care package AND the gift of music to our troops, with minimal effort on your part.
Here’s the plan:
Fans of a rising young band called Marty Casey and Lovehammers are organizing a major campaign to send care packages to our soldiers. Each care package will contain either food items or personal care items, PLUS one Marty Casey and Lovehammers CD. (It’s got lots of great modern rock, and lyrics that would mean a lot to soldiers, as well as to anyone striving in life, or missing loved ones.) This donation campaign is called “Shoebox of Lovehammers Love”.
You can learn more about the band, and hear clips of their songs, here: www.lovehammers.com
The packages will be mailed to the campaign organizer, who will collect them all and deliver them to the VFW, to be shipped to individual troop units. Please go to this website for a list of the food and personal care items that can be sent to soldiers, information on where to get the Marty Casey and Lovehammers CD, and the address of the campaign organizer to whom the packages should be shipped: lhmerchhelp.proboards59.com/index.cgi?board=troops There’s a very helpful step by step list there on what to get and where to send it.
The goal is for the boxes to be shipped out to the organizer (Nancy Davis of Anna, Illinois) by FEBRUARY 21, 2007. This will allow enough time for them to reach her by Feb. 25, which is the day she will deliver them to the VFW.
The organizer will deliver what is hoped will be hundreds, possibly even thousands, of boxes to her local VFW. This will be covered by media, so if your group, class, or school would like to be recognized for contributing, there are instructions on this site for how to mark your package for special attention.
Even if you can’t afford to purchase items to send to the soldiers, you can still send a card or letter in support of the troops to the organizer for inclusion in the shipments to the soldiers. It’s so important for their present and future well-being to know that the nation appreciates them and their sacrifices, no matter what anyone thinks of the war itself.
If you don’t have time to make up a package, but would still like to help out, there are instructions on the site about how to donate the funds to pay for the contents of a box.
Please consider taking part in this worthy effort to support our troops.
Thank you very much. For the flyers I will post on bulletin boards, I'll put the website on many tear-off tabs along the bottom of the page. (I'll probably have to shorten the text some to get it on 1 page.) If you copy and paste it into a Word doc, it can be e-mailed to people.

I just emailed EVERYONE on the View earlier! Even the Producer! This time I used the guideline NancyBBE posted. So fingers crossed one of them will answer me and we'll get national exposure if they just mention a little about it
