I must ask for prayers for my student Cheyenne. Somehow, no one bothered to tell me this until today, but she had a STROKE on Sunday. Her right side is pretty much paralyzed from what little I've gathered so far and she's in the AR Children's Hospital at Little Rock. She's only 15 or 16 at the most. I can't imagine what not only she, but her parents as well are going through right now. I may have mentioned Cheyenne in the past. For the record, she's the one who wanted a Bobby apron. She loves Bobby.

I must also ask for prayers for my friend's mom, Evanell. Her cancer has resurfaced in her throat. To make this even more difficult than usual, one of her sons just lost his mother-in-law to cancer that was detected too late.
Two recent graduates of our school also needs prayers.
Jamie's baby was born without the wall that separates the chambers of her heart, so she had to have heart surgery recently and will have to have several more surgeries in the coming months/years. Pray for Jamie, Shane, and their baby girl, Isabella.
Some of you probably remember me mentioning Erica, the girl who was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. At first she responded better than expected to treatment at St. Jude. Now the cancer is getting more aggressive, and today I heard St. Jude sent her to St. Louis after doing a treatment that was developed at M.D. Anderson in Texas. St. Jude said there is nothing more they can do. Please pray for the Rickman family.

Thanks for the hugs and thoughts everyone. I do have some good news to report tonight! Cheyenne is home. The 7th graders said she came to school during lunch today to collect her work. She is walking with a limp, but evidently she did speak to some of the kids while she was there today. Unfortunately, I didn't get to see her, but they said she's going to try to come back for a bit tomorrow and see how much she can take. Thanks for the prayers and thoughts, folks. They definitely work!

More good news to report. Cheyenne came by to see me today. Her speech is slowed, but she's doing much better. She told me the stroke happened Sunday morning and when she woke up she couldn't move or speak...just cry. While she was in LR they found a hole in her heart and they think it led to the stroke by sending a blood clot up to her head. Her right arm is still pretty much paralyzed and she's limping on her right leg, but slowly getting feeling back. I asked her if she's going to be getting therapy and she said something like, "Yeah, for my leg and arm and my speech because it sounds retarded and I hate it." I asked her how old she is because I couldn't remember and she said she'll be 15 in 20 days. TOO YOUNG FOR THIS! She's going to try to come back for a full day Monday. She got tired this morning and went home.
Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers for Cheyenne. She still has quite a way to go, but it was good to see her usual self still exists.

I'm glad she's doing better. Hopefully she will be able to recover more fully through therapy.

I hope so. While we were cleaning the church tonight, I saw a note that another student had a mini-stroke, but I still have to verify that. Pray for Keegan just in case. He's a brave little cancer survivor who has lost most of his hearing along with all of his eyesight due to a tumor he had when he was very, very young.

I saw a note tonight while we were cleaning the church that I have yet to confirm. It said another student, a boy named Keegan, had a mini-stroke. Keegan is a very brave young man (a freshman) who had cancer when he was very young. In the course of treatment, he went blind and lost most of his hearing, but he has one of the sunniest dispositions you'll ever encounter. I cracked up one day because Aaron (a student who is in a wheelchair and also in his special needs class) was driving through the halls and leading Keegan through the traffic and Keegan asked him if he had been drinking that day because he wasn't driving straight. This kid is a fighter, but if he had a mini-stroke - bless his heart. I don't know what's going on around here right now.
The prayer list for tomorrow says there is bleeding around Erica's tumor. Mom said she heard that has been the case ever since it has appeared to be advancing. She also said she heard there was only a 10% cure rate. Erica is a fighter and believes that it's a good thing she's in that 10%.
Please pray I don't lose my mind. The kids vandalized the house again last night...with all the stolen stuff from last week. Obviously they picked it up, not the cop who was supposed to...so we called the cops again, a different one came out, and we filed a report. About the time he arrived at the house he saw a truck leaving this area quickly and went into pursuit. It was one of the students from the class that gave me HELL two years ago. I don't even have him anymore, but right now he's looking like the prime suspect. A note was left on the door about how I ruined their fun last weekend by cleaning up their mess on Saturday morning, and foiled their plans on Saturday night by guarding the house...so now they're going to have to attack randomly "to torture me"...those are exact words, people. The cops have the note and he said he was going to try to get to the bottom of it and that he would talk to the one who didn't follow through. I'm about ready to talk to the mayor. Mom is about ready to knock some headlights out with a Louisville Slugger, if you get the drift...either that or call mommies at 4 a.m. after their little angels come beating on our windows and door.
Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers for Cheyenne. She still has quite a way to go, but it was good to see her usual self still exists. Please pray for the Rickmans and the Burdins along with Shane and Jamie. Baby Isabella made it through the surgery, and the results were as expected according to her doctors.

I just received some bad news about my Great-Aunt Mildred. She's in the hospital. Her cancer is back and this time it's infiltrated both of her lungs. Please add her and the Beaton family to your prayers.
Also pray that my car repairs aren't so extensive that they make it 110% impossible to make it to Chicago for NYE. It broke down in a town 15 miles from home last night. Thankfully, I was IN TOWN because my cell was dead. We have to wait until tomorrow to get with a mechanic about it. That's the thing with rural areas - no one has a shop open on the weekends.

Just a quick post to ask for prayers. Some of you may remember me mentioning Erica who graduated from our h.s. two years ago and was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor the following year. She passed away early this morning, so please keep the Rickmans, our teachers, and our kids who were close friends with her in your prayers.

can you all please put my best friend jenna back in your prayers....
I got a call from Jenna this morning telling me her moms cancer is back for the 4th time... Her mom wont tell anyone where it is. So jenna thinks it might be in her brain.... and doesnt think her mom will do anymore treatment.
Her whole family is taking this one really hard including myself... Its hard to hear your best friends voice be shaky and crack and know she just wants to break down and cry. Shes trying to be the one that keeps it together for her family because everyone else is losing it... i just dont know if she can handle all of this right now... She has a 9 year old little brother and he is just a mess.....
i want so badly for her to win her battle. shes done it 3 other times! i just think shes so tired from all of the chemo and stuff.... its just really hard to think she might die.
